Days Out Ontario
High tea is a nostalgic homage to yesteryear, bringing back distinct and fond memories from children to grandmothers. It only makes sense, then, to enjoy it in a historic setting that brings back memories for all generations.

This former one-room schoolhouse in the tiny village of Ormsby (south of Bancroft is now a charming tea room. Lace tablecloths, silverware, and florals abound, while the walls are decorated with maps and black-and-white class photos from the past 90 years (including one with the owner and another of his father).

Delicious homemade desserts, such as banana chocolate pie, cream puffs, and carrot cake as well as light lunch items are served in addition to the tea. Just don't be too rowdy or you may have to visit the teacher's desk (next to the wood-burning heater) at the front of the room!

Don't forget to add the best-ever shortbread! The Old Schoolhouse Tea Room is the most delightful place - I can't wait to return.
