Even those who don’t think they like pies
will think an annual pilgrimage to this rural community is necessary during strawberry season. Mennonite ladies are up early each morning turning out dozens of pies to meet the demand, and yet the bakery
often sells out before the end of the day. It’s no surprise once you’ve tasted one: plentiful amounts of fresh, whole , uncooked strawberries line the bottom of the baked pie shell and a sweet syrup is poured overtop. By not baking the fruit, the pie is packed with flavour.
