Just North of Aylmer, Clovermead Farm
combines large-scale honey production with an adventure farm where kids are immersed in farm life in a fun way where they won’t even realize they’re learning something. With rustic wood buildings and antiques, this family farm has an old-time farm or Wild West feel.
The Adventure Farm includes family fun, such as Straw Bale Mountain and Straw Jump, Tractor Tire Climb, Rubber Duck Racing, wagon rides, a tricycle track, and an opportunity to pet farm animals.
Visit the Bee Discovery Station to see Ontario's Largest Glass Bee Display Hive or visit the Honey Gift Shop to sidle up to the up to the taste-testing honey bar for free samples of six types of honey (you can supply your own containers or use those at the shop). . Clovermead also has 12 different honey spreads, from cinnamon, maple, lemon to an interesting root beer honey spread, all made with Summer Blossom creamed honey. In addition to the spreads, there are other culinary treats and treasures in the shop.
Every day except Sunday in July and August from 11-2, you can take a tour of the bee yard with its 24 million bees, meet a beekeeper, and see a hive up close and personal. This tour is included with your Adventure Farm admission rate of $9 a person.
The Adventure Farm and Gift Shop are open Monday to Saturday, 9-5:30 from June until the end of October.
