One of the new stars on the Ontario cheese stage, Monforte Dairy offes over a dozen varieties made from goat, sheep, cow, and water buffalo milk, including Goat Tomme, Spadina Goat Cheese (with burnt honey), and sheep’s milk ricotta. The store is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm May through October.
Drop by Monforte Dairy on Sundays afternoons to try samples of some of its sheep, goat, and cow milk cheeses paired with Southbrook Vineyards wine for $20/person. They also offer wine-free alternatives if you ask. Call ahead to book a tasting time.
Monteforte now has a new bistro on Wellington Street. The menu isn't long but sure reads well, and has good variety. It's a good alternative to crowded restaurants and is well-located for the Avon Theatre.
