Boomer’s proudly displays its status as one of the Food Network’s You Gotta Eat Here locations (a tv feature aired on the restaurant in January 2012 during the show’s debut episode) with a plaque, a signed photo from the show host John Catucci, and a couple of related newspaper articles on the wall. The burgers are relatively small, but filling, with a variety of interesting toppings, from guacamole to brie to bbq chips.
The poutine is served in a tall paper cup (ideal for take-out) and made with delicious hand cut fries. There are a dozen flavours, including the poutini (poutine martini), goat cheese, and meatball. Owner and Chef Sue Pasquale is ubiquitous in the kitchen, flipping burgers and crafting the poutine There is stool seating for about a dozen people in the restaurant. As the note affixed to the Johnny Cash record case sitting on the front counter indicates, this is a cash-only establishment. A poutine and cheeseburger will typically run you about $14. Boomer’s is closed Sundays.
