A Weekend of Farms and Local Food in Culinary Perth

Best-known as the home to the Stratford Festival, Perth County is also famous in culinary circles for organic vegetables, high quality pork products, one of Canada’s premier chefs’ schools, and a new slow-food market. To truly appreciate Perth’s bounty, you’ll not only visit local food markets and specialty boutiques, but visit the farms where this food is grown and raised. While Perth is a sprawling county, this day trip is centred around the three “S” towns: Shakespeare, Stratford, and Sebringville.

When to Go: Anytime except the winter; some farms and shops are closed on Sundays, while Stratford’s Slow Food Market and Montfort Dairy’s cheese tastings run on Sundays; the Stratford Farmers Market is open Saturday mornings
